Historical Collection WWII - Avro Lancaster B III Dambuster

In the Executive version, we will build an Avro Lancaster B III in a special Dambuster livery. It was designed to carry out one of the most famous operations of the Second World War – Operation Chastise. The aircraft bears the distinctive markings of 617 Squadron. The model itself features rotating propellers, retractable landing gear and movable ailerons. The cockpit features a recreated interior in which crew figures can be placed. Under the aircraft, we will attach the famous ‘bungee bomb’, designed to destroy large targets such as dams and submarine shelters. It was deployed on 17 May 1943 by the 617 Squadron “Dam Busters” (Operation Chastise) to destroy the German Möhne and Eder dams. The set includes historical markings, a block base with the aircraft’s name and three figures representing the crew.

The Avro Lancaster was a heavy four-engine British bomber from the Second World War, manufactured at the A.V. Roe (Avro) factory and entered into service in 1942. Alongside the Handley Page Halifax, the Lancaster was the main heavy bomber of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. The Lancaster is regarded as the most successful British heavy bomber. A total of 7,377 Avro Lancaster aircraft were produced.
In 1943, several Avro Lancaster aircraft were converted for Operation Chastise. The aim of the operation was to destroy dams in the Ruhr region of Germany, thereby disrupting the water and energy supply to German industry. Operation Chastise was innovative from both a technological and tactical perspective. It required precise low-altitude flying and accurate bomb dropping.
