The F-117 Nighthawk is an American tactical bomber developed by Lockheed using stealth technology, enabling it to evade detection by enemy radar. Although it was officially decommissioned in 2008, it remains one of the most fascinating and controversial military aircraft in history.
The F-117 made its debut with the US Air Force in 1983. Its unique design, featuring sharp edges and flat surfaces, minimised radar echoes and rendered it virtually invisible to most radar systems. The aircraft gained fame through military operations such as ‘Just Cause’ in Panama, ‘Desert Storm’ in Iraq and ‘Allied Force’ in Yugoslavia – wherever precision and the element of surprise were crucial.
