The Mirage IIIC is here! A 1:48 scale model of a supersonic fighter and a French legend.
The Mirage IIIC is a highly detailed model of one of the most legendary fighter aircraft of the 20th century. Its dynamic silhouette, delta wings, realistic armament, and numerous moving parts make this set the perfect combination of building fun and discovering the history of modern military aviation!
Built for combat!
The Dassault Mirage IIIC was the first mass-produced variant of the legendary Dassault Mirage III family. This single-seat, single-engine delta-wing fighter, developed in France by Dassault Aviation, reached supersonic speeds and was designed for high-altitude combat. Its maiden flight took place on October 9, 1960.
Over the course of its development, its purpose was changed. The fighter was converted from an interceptor to a multi-role fighter. In the process, the rocket booster was removed and fixed armament was introduced: two 30-mm DEFA 552 cannons (125 rounds each), two AIM-9 missiles under the wings, and one Matra R530 missile under the fuselage.
Powered by the Atar 9B-3 engine, the aircraft quickly gained worldwide recognition and was adopted by numerous air forces. It was also manufactured under license in Belgium, Switzerland, and Australia, while Israel and South Africa developed their own, heavily modified versions. A total of approximately 95 aircraft were produced, remaining in service until the late 1980s.
The Mirage IIIC set from COBI includes:
A 1:48 scale model of the Mirage IIIC—a detailed replica of the fighter’s silhouette with its distinctive delta wing and slender fuselage.
375 precision-crafted parts – guaranteeing outstanding quality, solid workmanship, and a sturdy construction.
Product licensed by Dassault Aviation – The model was manufactured under the original license of the French manufacturer to ensure that every detail matches the appearance of the original aircraft. Everything has been reproduced with the utmost care so that every collector can enjoy this COBI snap-together model.
Movable elements of the model – removable wheels, movable ailerons, an opening cockpit, and mounted weapons enhance the realism and appeal of the set.
Additional weapons – replicas of Matra and AIM-9 missiles are mounted under the wings. The Matra is a French guided missile designed to engage air targets, while the AIM-9 is an American air-to-air missile.
High-quality prints – the durable markings and details, applied without stickers, are abrasion- and fade-resistant.
Display stand with plaque – a special stand with a transparent pin allows for a dynamic display of the model in flight position. An aesthetically pleasing information plaque completes the set and highlights its collector’s value.
Clear, illustrated assembly instructions guide you step by step through the entire build, making assembly easy even for less experienced modelers.
The stork symbol on the horizontal stabilizer – the stork (French: la cigogne) is one of the best-known and historically most significant symbols of French military aviation. It commemorates the elite fighter squadron of World War I, the Escadrille des Cigognes (Stork Squadron). Among its ranks served France’s most famous fighter pilots, including the legendary Georges Guynemer.
A model for play and display – perfect for collectors and action-packed play.
This set is suitable for builders aged 8 and up—an excellent choice for young building block fans and adult military aviation enthusiasts.
